Cricket's three formats and major tournaments

T20 — Fast-paced cricket

BPL IPL T20 World Cup

Just 20 overs a side — every ball counts. BPL and IPL are the most popular among Bangladeshi fans. Odds shift quickly in this short format, making live betting especially engaging.

ODI — The 50-over contest

ICC ODI World Cup Asia Cup

With longer innings in one-day cricket, there is more room for the momentum to shift. Run rate and wickets together shape the strategy, which is reflected in the betting markets too.

Test — The five-day challenge

ICC World Test Championship

Test cricket is the longest format. Pitch conditions, weather and the result of each session gradually influence the odds. The possibility of a draw also creates a separate market here.

take football and other sports betting markets

How betting differs in football and other sports

Alongside cricket, take offers betting markets on football and several other sports. Each sport has a different structure, so the markets differ too.

In football the match duration is fixed (90 minutes + extra time), and a draw is a common result — so the 1 × 2 (home win, draw, away win) market is central. In cricket, ODI and T20 have no draw — only win or loss. In Test a draw is possible, which creates a separate market.

In cricket, odds change instantly over-by-over and after each wicket, making live betting more fast-moving than in football. In smaller sports like Kabaddi or Badminton, the range of odds is narrower and the number of markets is limited.

Popular betting markets and quick examples

The markets below are the most commonly used in cricket betting. Team A and Team B are for illustration only — these are not predictions for any specific team or match.

Match Winner

Simplest market

Just pick which of the two teams will win the match. There is no third outcome in ODI and T20. Example: Team A vs Team B — if you pick Team B and Team B wins, you win.

Toss Winner

Settled quickly

Bet on who will win the toss before the match starts. This is unrelated to the match result, so the outcome of your bet is known as soon as the toss is done.

Top Batsman

Player market

Which player will score the most runs in a single innings or across the whole match. Example: pick which of Team A's three batsmen will score the highest.

Total Runs Over/Under

Runs market

Bet on whether total runs in the match will be more (over) or fewer (under) than a set number. This market is especially popular in ODI and T20 cricket.

Multi Bet

Multiple selections

Place bets on multiple markets at once. For example: three separate selections with decimal odds of 1.40, 1.50 and 1.70 give combined odds of 1.40 × 1.50 × 1.70 = 3.57 (approximately). A ৳100 bet returns ৳357 if all selections win — but if even one selection loses, the entire ৳100 is lost.

Handicap and Innings Bets

Special markets

In a handicap bet, one team is given a virtual advantage or disadvantage to even out the odds. In an innings bet, you predict how many runs will be scored within a specific number of overs.

How to read odds in three formats

The same value can be written as decimal, fractional or American. The two examples below will make it clear.

Example 1 — Team A to win (stake ৳500)

Decimal 2.25 = Fractional 5/4 = American +125. If the bet wins, you get back ৳1,125 (profit ৳625 + original ৳500). If it loses, the full ৳500 is gone.

In American odds, the "+" sign shows how much profit you make on a ৳100 bet. +125 means ৳125 profit on a ৳100 bet.

Example 2 — Team B is the favourite (stake ৳500)

Decimal 1.25 = Fractional 1/4 = American -400. If the bet wins, you get back ৳625 (profit ৳125).

In American odds, the "-" sign shows how much you need to bet to make ৳100 profit. -400 means you bet ৳400 to profit ৳100. When decimal odds are close to 1.00, that indicates the favourite's price.

Cricket match winner example

In a limited-overs match, Team A has decimal odds of 2.10 and Team B 1.75. A ৳500 bet on Team B returns ৳875 if Team B wins (profit ৳375). If Team A wins, ৳500 is lost. Since ODI and T20 have no draw, the result is always one of two outcomes.

Live Betting

Odds shift with wickets and overs

Live betting in cricket is especially fast-moving because the situation can change dramatically after every over. Say Team A is at 90 runs for 3 wickets in 15 overs — at that moment their odds of winning the match could be much higher than before.

If two wickets fall in the next over, the odds will shift quickly. That movement is what sets live betting apart — you can join new markets after every ball while watching the match.

Markets commonly available in live betting: how many runs will be scored in the next over, when will the next wicket fall, team's total runs at the end of a specific over. These markets settle quickly, which is why many bettors prefer them.

Keep in mind that live betting requires fast decisions. Stay within your budget rather than placing large bets on impulse. Betting is for entertainment — it is not a guaranteed source of income.

Useful advice for cricket betting

  • Set your budget in advance. Decide the maximum you will bet on each match before it starts and stick to that limit — whether you are winning or losing.
  • Build skill in one market. Rather than spreading bets across many markets at the start, get to know one or two well — such as match winner or total runs.
  • Understand the format before betting. Strategy differs between T20 and ODI. In Test matches, pitch and weather have a bigger impact, so consider the match context a little more carefully before placing a bet.
  • Keep greed in check with multi bets. Adding more selections increases the potential return, but one losing selection loses the whole bet. You can start multi bets with lower risk using take bonus offers.
  • Stay patient in live betting. Before acting on a shift in odds, take a few seconds to think. Rushed, impulsive bets often lead to losses.
  • Know the rules. Before you start betting, read the terms and conditions once — they clearly explain everything about bonus wagering and payments.

Cricket betting common questions

Yes. T20 and ODI have no draw, so there are mainly two-outcome markets. Test has three possible results (Team A win, Team B win, draw), so the match winner market shows three options. Total runs, wickets and innings-specific markets also differ by format.

Generally yes — but each market is open for a specific period. For example, the "total runs in the next over" market closes just before the over begins. After a wicket falls, the platform may briefly suspend betting for a few moments while odds adjust.

Generally you can add from two to several selections together. The odds of each selection are multiplied to get the total odds. Keep in mind — you need all selections to win to receive a payout. For three selections with decimal odds of 1.40 × 1.50 × 1.70 = 3.57, a ৳100 bet returns ৳357.

Both are T20 leagues, so the main markets are the same — match winner, toss, total runs, top batsman. However, larger international tournaments (such as the T20 World Cup or ICC ODI World Cup) may add more special markets, like tournament winner or top batsman of the tournament.

Generally, if a match is abandoned or altered, bets are either cancelled or recalculated depending on the betting rules. It is recommended to read take's FAQ page and terms and conditions for specific details.
